Move and Store with One Team

A moving service with storage means the same company packs and moves your belongings and also keeps them safe until you are ready to receive them. It is useful in Dubai when your tenancy ends before your next home is ready, when you are moving between a villa and an apartment, or when you are relocating and need time before everything arrives.
Ideal Home Storage Dubai combines movers and secure self storage, so you deal with one team, one plan and one set of dates. You can store for just a month or for as long as you need, and collect your things whenever you are ready.
  • Store until you are ready to move in: keep your belongings safe while you wait for keys, repairs or a new tenancy
  • One clear plan: ask for a quote that covers your move and your storage together
  • Flexible storage after the move: keep storing what you have no room for, on a contract that suits you

When Having Storage for a House Move Makes the Difference

Storage is most useful when there is uncertainty or overlap during a move. These are the situations where people in Dubai use it most:

Between Moving Out and Moving In

If your tenancy ends before you can enter the next property, storage gives your belongings a safe place while you stay with family, in a hotel or in temporary accommodation.

Delays and Changing Handover Dates

Handovers, Ejari registration and repairs can shift your dates at short notice. Storage lets you move out on time and settle in when the new place is ready.

Packing Before Your Moving Date

Some people move non-essential items into storage a few weeks early. It clears the home, makes cleaning and handover easier, and means less to move on the day.

Downsizing or Decluttering

Moving from a villa to an apartment? Storage gives you time to decide what to keep, sell or donate, without rushing decisions you may regret.

What Size Storage Unit Do I Need for a House Move?

Choosing a size is easier than it seems. Start by thinking about how many rooms you need to pack, rather than counting every box. Use the guide below to compare typical sizes. Most items can be stacked safely, so you can often fit more than you expect.

Not Sure Which Size Is Right?

It is common to change size once you can see the space, and you can move to a larger or smaller unit, subject to availability. Our team can help you choose when you arrive, or ask for an estimate from your inventory. For more detail, see our personal storage unit sizes.

What to Store First (and What to Keep with You)

Planning what goes into storage makes the move smoother.
Items people often store early
  • Furniture not needed immediately
  • Boxes from spare rooms, storerooms and balconies
  • Seasonal items and sports equipment
  • Decorative or non-essential belongings
Items to keep accessible
  • Emirates IDs, passports and tenancy or Ejari papers
  • Medication and valuables
  • Everyday clothing and toiletries
  • Chargers and items for your first few days at the new home
When storing furniture, protect it with breathable covers, place heavier items at the bottom of the unit and leave space for airflow. This keeps furniture in good condition in Dubai’s heat and humidity. See our furniture storage guide and storage checklist for more.

Short-Term and Longer-Term Storage During a Move

Most storage during a move is short-term, covering weeks or a few months while plans are finalised. Some moves take longer than expected, so flexibility usually matters more than committing to a fixed length.
  • Variable: one month, the most flexible option, with a 5-day grace period after the full month
  • Flexible: from 2 to 11 months, if your move or handover takes longer
  • Fixed: 12 months at a guaranteed rate, for relocations or long overseas stays
Read the full comparison in our self storage contracts guide.

Moving House in Dubai: A Simple Checklist

  1. 4 to 6 weeks before: check your tenancy end date and notice period, request a quote and decide what will go into storage.
  2. 3 weeks before: declutter, sell or donate what you no longer need, and gather boxes and packing materials.
  3. 2 weeks before: ask your building management about move-in and move-out permits and lift booking, and plan utility disconnection and reconnection.
  4. 1 week before: pack room by room, label every box and set aside documents, medication and valuables to carry yourself.
  5. Moving day: do a last check of every room and cupboard, record meter readings and hand over the keys.

Movers and Storage in Dubai: Frequently Asked Questions

Call, WhatsApp or fill in the quote form on this page with your moving dates, your current and new addresses and a rough list of what you have. We will confirm the details and give you a clear quote before anything is booked.

Not always, but it helps whenever your move-out and move-in dates do not match, when a handover is delayed or when your new home is smaller. Storage gives you a safe place for belongings until you are ready to receive them.

As a guide, 75 sq ft suits a studio apartment, 100 sq ft a one-bedroom apartment, 150 sq ft a two-bedroom apartment or villa, 200 sq ft a three-bedroom home and 300 sq ft a four-bedroom villa. Larger villas may need 400 or 500 sq ft. Our team can estimate from your inventory.

Most people store for a few weeks to a few months. If your plans change, you can extend your storage. A Variable contract covers one month, a Flexible contract 2 to 11 months and a Fixed contract 12 months.

Yes. You can visit your unit during our access hours to collect or add items. Ask our team about extended access if you need it.

Book as early as you can, especially around the end of the month, summer and school holidays, when many tenancies end. Moves at short notice are sometimes possible, so ask us.

Both. We can pack everything, pack only the fragile items, or transport boxes you have already packed. Tell us what you need and we will price just that.

Clean and fully dry every piece, take large items apart where you can, keep screws in labelled bags and cover furniture with breathable sheets, never sealed plastic. See our furniture storage guide for step-by-step advice.

Your belongings must be insured for the length of your stay. You can use your own policy if it meets our requirements, or choose our protection plan. Declare the full replacement value of your goods.

Decide early what you will not need for the first weeks, pack those items first and label every box with the room and contents. Keep documents, medication and valuables with you. Our moving checklist on this page can help.
