Storage Checklist: What You Need to Rent a Storage Unit in Dubai

A little preparation makes renting a storage unit in Dubai with Ideal Home Storage Dubai quick and stress-free. Have the following ready before your first visit:
1

Insurance for Your Belongings

Everything you store with Ideal Home Storage Dubai should be covered against loss or damage. You can bring your own policy, such as your home contents insurance, or ask our team about the protection plan we offer. Whichever you choose, state the real replacement value of your goods, and let us know in writing if that value increases later. Our storage insurance guide explains the options in more detail.

2

Payment Set-Up

When you sign up, we’ll help you complete the payment forms for your rental. Your first payment is taken by bank card, and we then set up automatic payments for the rest of your stay so you never miss a due date. Please ask our team which payment methods are accepted.

3

Your Own Padlock

You hold the only key to your unit. Your space is locked with a padlock that only you control, so bring a strong, good-quality one with you. If you forget, we sell padlocks at every Ideal Home Storage Dubai location.

4

Identification and Proof of Address

For security and legal reasons, we ask every customer for photo identification and a document showing where they live.

Photo ID (one of the following)

  • Emirates ID
  • Passport, together with a valid UAE residence visa for residents
  • Valid UAE driving licence
  • Passport with your entry stamp, for visitors and short-term guests

Proof of address (one of the following)

  • A recent DEWA, SEWA or other utility bill in your name
  • Your Ejari registration or tenancy contract
  • A recent bank statement showing your current address
  • Title deed or property ownership document
  • A letter from your employer confirming your residential address

For business customers

  • A valid trade licence
  • Company letterhead or stamp
  • Emirates ID or passport of the authorised signatory

If you are unsure whether your documents are suitable, call us before your visit and we’ll let you know.

5

An Emergency Contact

Please give us the name and phone number of someone we can reach if we are unable to contact you, for example in the case of a fire, a leak or an access problem at the building.

Not sure you have everything? Call or visit your nearest Ideal Home Storage Dubai store and we’ll go through the list with you before you move in.
