What Is Personal Storage in Dubai?

Personal storage in Dubai is a private, lockable unit that you rent to keep household belongings such as furniture, boxes, appliances, seasonal items and documents, for as little as a month or for several years. You choose the unit size and the contract, you hold the only key, and you can visit during our access hours.
It suits people living in apartments with limited space, families moving between homes, residents renovating a villa, students heading home for the summer and expats relocating or working overseas. Ideal Home Storage Dubai offers personal storage at three locations in Dubai, with clear contracts and no need to pay for more space than you use.

Why Choose Personal Storage?

  • Space at home: free up rooms in compact Dubai apartments without throwing things away
  • Flexibility: short or long contracts that match your plans, and the option to change unit size
  • Security: an individual locked unit that only you can open
  • Protection: indoor units that keep belongings away from direct sun, dust and the worst of the heat
  • Convenience: three Dubai locations and access whenever we are open

Ways to Use Personal Storage in Dubai

Choose a topic to jump to the details. Everything you need to know is explained below on this page.
Need space for a month or two? Rent monthly with no long commitment.
Bridge the gap between leaving one home and settling into the next.
Keep sofas, beds and dining sets safe from Dubai’s heat, dust and humidity.
Budget-friendly storage over the summer holidays and between terms.
Protect belongings from dust and damage during a villa or apartment renovation.
Moving abroad, working overseas or downsizing? Store for a year or more at a locked-in rate.

Short Term Storage

Short term storage covers stays from one month to a few months. It works well when you are waiting for a move-in date, between tenancies, hosting guests or clearing a room for a while. A Variable contract covers a single month with maximum flexibility, while a Flexible contract suits stays of 2 to 11 months. A 5-day grace period applies after each full month. See the contract comparison in the cost section below.

Moving House Storage

Moving dates rarely line up perfectly. If your Ejari or lease ends before the next home is ready, personal storage bridges the gap: pack up, store everything safely, and collect your belongings when you are ready to settle in. Moving from a villa to an apartment? Store the items that will not fit and keep only what you need.
  • Book your unit a few days ahead, especially around month-end when many leases change
  • Use matching boxes so stacks stay straight and use the unit’s full height
  • Keep essentials and documents with you, not in the unit

Furniture Storage

Furniture is the most common item people store. Dubai’s heat, dust and humidity can warp wood, stain fabric and cause mould, so preparation matters. Clean and fully dry every piece, cover it with breathable sheets (never sealed plastic), raise it off the floor, and take large items apart where you can.
  • 35 to 50 sq ft: a single bed, wardrobe or fridge, with boxes
  • 75 to 100 sq ft: the furniture of a studio or one-bedroom apartment, including bulky items
  • 150 to 200 sq ft: a two or three-bedroom apartment or villa
  • 300 sq ft and above: a four-bedroom villa or larger, including living room, maid’s room and kitchen appliances

Student Storage

Heading home for the summer or between terms? Rent a unit for just the months you need, for example a Flexible contract for 2 or 3 months over the break. If you need more time, tell us before your term ends and we will extend it.

Renovating a Villa or Apartment

Renovation brings dust, paint and constant movement. Store furniture, rugs, electronics and valuables in a secure unit while the work is done, then return everything to a clean, finished home. Choose a unit big enough for the furniture of the rooms being worked on, and choose a Flexible contract in case the schedule slips.

Long Term Storage, Relocating and Life Events

Relocating abroad, working overseas, getting married, welcoming a new baby or downsizing? Life changes quickly, and your belongings do not always need to change with it. A Fixed contract of 12 months gives you a guaranteed rate for the whole term, with no notice needed at the end of the term, and you decide whether to extend or move out. If you are not sure how long you will be away, choose a Flexible contract instead.

How Much Does Personal Storage Cost in Dubai?

The price of a personal storage unit in Dubai depends on a few simple factors, so you only pay for the space and flexibility you need:

  • Location: prices can differ between Al Quoz, DIP and Ras Al Khor
  • Contract type: a Fixed 12-month contract comes with a guaranteed rate

How to Save on Storage

  • Only store what you need, and sell or donate the rest
  • Ask our team about current offers on your unit size

How to Rent a Storage Unit in Dubai

  1. Choose a location and unit size. Use the size guide above, or ask our team to estimate from your items.
  2. Pick a contract. Variable for one month, Flexible for 2 to 11 months, or Fixed for 12 months with a guaranteed rate.
  3. Gather your documents. You need photo ID (Emirates ID, or passport with a UAE residence visa), proof of address, a payment card and an emergency contact. Our storage checklist lists everything.
  4. Arrange insurance. Use your own policy or ask about our protection plan, declaring the full replacement value of your goods.
  5. Move in and lock up. Bring a strong padlock, load your unit and keep the only key.

What You Can and Cannot Store

Most household belongings are welcome, including furniture, appliances (empty, clean and dry), boxes, clothes, books, sports equipment and seasonal items.
Not allowed: flammable or dangerous materials such as fuel, gas cylinders, fireworks and chemicals; anything illegal or restricted under UAE law; perishable food; live animals and plants; and wet or damp items. If you are unsure about an item, ask us before you bring it.

Security and Access

  • Individual locked units, with you as the only key holder
  • CCTV monitoring and controlled entry at our premises
  • Staff on site during opening hours
  • Trolleys and a loading area to help you move items
  • Visit as often as you like during our access hours

Protect Your Belongings From Dubai's Heat, Humidity and Dust

Dubai’s climate is tough on stored items. A few habits make a big difference, whether you store for a month or a year:
  • Choose cardboard boxes over sealed plastic bags, which trap moisture
  • Add moisture absorbers to boxes of clothes, paper and fabric, and to furniture
  • Clean and fully dry everything before storing it
  • Raise furniture and boxes off the floor with pallets or a dust sheet
  • Cover furniture with breathable sheets, not plastic wrap
  • Keep leather, wood and electronics away from the unit’s outer walls
  • Ask us about climate-controlled options for valuable or delicate pieces
For wrapping, labelling and loading advice, see our packing tips.
